An Open Letter from the U.S. Pastor Council and My God Votes
James Buntrock
Executive Director, My God Votes
To our fellow pastors, shepherds of Christ’s flock who love the Church and fear God more than mankind:
Scripture warns us clearly: “Every spirit that does not confess that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is not of God. And this is the spirit of the Antichrist, which you have heard was coming, and is now already in the world.” (I John 4:3 NKJV)
The antichrist spirit is not merely a futuristic political figure. It is any spirit that denies the unique deity, lordship, and exclusive claims of Jesus Christ. It is the spirit that seeks to replace the Gospel with another gospel, and that works to dismantle the moral order established by God.
The god of this age - that antichrist spirit - is advancing through our culture and system of government on multiple fronts. We call the Church to recognize and resist this demonic movement without apology.
Communism is an openly atheistic system that declares God a myth, rejects the image of God in man, and denies the authority of the Creator. No pastor who confesses “Jesus is Lord” can make peace with an ideology that demands the state become lord in His place.
Likewise, Islam, by its own foundational texts, denies that Jesus is the eternal Son of God, that He died on the cross for sin, and that He rose bodily from the dead. It replaces the Gospel of grace with a system of evil works and claims final prophetic authority over Jesus Christ. The spirit that rejects the Incarnation and the Cross is the spirit of antichrist. Love for Muslim neighbors requires clear truth, not theological surrender.
That same antichrist spirit is also operating through a progressive political and theological movement, keeping the language of faith while shamelessly perverting the Truth of God’s Word and leading the uninformed astray.
The public positions associated with political figures like James Talarico are blatantly antichrist. He describes our Heavenly Father in non-binary terms, and his church distributes something called the “Inclusive Bible” which removes gender specific language. He pushes for the genital mutilation of children. He advocates for the dismembering of the unborn and calls it healthcare. He calls Jesus a feminist. Worst of all, he declares that other religions are equally valid with Christianity and urges the Church to prioritize political progressive causes over the clear commands of Scripture. These policy positions are the antichrist spirit at work.
Pastors are called to lead, feed and guard. We are called to “contend earnestly for the faith that was once for all delivered to the saints” (Jude 3 NKJV). Silence in the face of evil is not neutrality; it is complicity. The Church that refuses to name the spirit of antichrist will eventually find itself serving it.
On every issue that pertains to man, God has a side, and when we vote according to His will and His word, we are a restraining force against the antichrist spirit.
Therefore, we commit ourselves while inviting every faithful pastor to join us in declaring the following:
- We will preach the full deity, exclusive lordship, and sufficient atonement of Jesus Christ without dilution.
- We will guard our flock against the current operations of the antichrist spirit.
- We will expose and reject every ideology—communist, Islamic, or any other—that denies these truths.
- We will defend the authority of Scripture, the unborn, the created order of male and female, and the Gospel of grace against every counterfeit.
- We will love our neighbors enough to tell them the truth, even when that truth is costly.
- We will urge our flocks to use their votes to be a restraining force against antichrist ideologies.
“For certain men have crept in unnoticed, who long ago were marked out for this condemnation, ungodly men, who turn the grace of our God into lewdness and deny the only Lord God and our Lord Jesus Christ.” (Jude 1:4 NKJV)
The hour is late. Predators are devouring the flock. The Chief Shepherd is watching. This is a time to Stand!
